Study requirements
Prerequisite:
• a university degree in engineering (preferably materials science, nanotechnology, computer science) or in the medical field (medicine) or in one of the natural sciences (preferably in biology, biotechnology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics)
• Proficiency in English at B2+ level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Language
• good knowledge in the fields of Biochemistry, Cell biology, Materials science, Mathematics and Physics. Where appropriate, an assessment is made by an aptitude interview.
Registration for the aptitude assessment or the NC selection process as well as application for admission to a degree program

Registration for the aptitude assessment or selection procedure
Your degree program requires participation in an aptitude assessment or selection procedure conducted by your future faculty. You must have the documents listed in the next section ready for this purpose. Please pay attention to the information regarding the deadline and submission format (by mail or online) required for these documents.
Please note: If the faculty’s website also requests specific documents, that list takes precedence.
Please note: For some degree programs, the deadline to register for the aptitude assessment or selection procedure may fall before the application period of the degree program.
Application for the degree program
In addition, you must apply for the degree program by entering your application details into the TU Dresden online application portal. Please observe the application deadlines for the degree program. Upon applying, you will receive an application number; you may need this number to register for the aptitude assessment or selection procedure and for any subsequent inquiries.
- For degree programs without restricted admission: Once your aptitude has been confirmed, please send the notice of aptitude and all requested documents to the Admissions Office or the International Office.
- For degree programs with restricted admission: You will receive a separate request to submit the required documents (including the notice of aptitude, if an aptitude assessment procedure is a prerequisite) only upon receiving your letter of admission.
Degree-specific information and documents
• Registration for the suitability assessment online on the website of the course of study
•Proof of sufficient proficiency in English via relevant language or academic certificates. This can take the form of:
a) A certificate of general or subject-specific university entrance qualification with an advanced course completed in English,
b) A certificate of university entrance qualification completed exclusively in English,
c) A diploma from a university degree completed exclusively in English, or
d) English certificates such as TOEFL IBT (at least 92), IELTS (at least 6.5) or comparable language certificates.
• CV in tabular form (in English)
• Two letters of recommendation either in English or German, preferably by university professors
• Appropriate documents or certificates that prove the particular expertise required
