Information for Students (Start from Winter 2026)
This page describes the structure and curriculum of the WiPäd bachelor’s program as it will be offered to incoming freshmen starting in the 2026/2027 winter semester.

Structure and Course of Study
A total of 180 credit points are awarded in the Bachelor’s program in Business Education and Management Training. The standard duration of study is therefore 6 semesters as a full-time student; however, in the track “Corporate Training and Personnel Development” (Track I), a flexible part-time study option is also available. Please visit our website for more information on part-time study.
You can choose between two specializations: the business-oriented specialization in Corporate Training and Personnel Development (Specialization I) and the specialization in Vocational Teacher Education in Business Administration and Economics (Specialization II), in which you select a general education track.
In both tracks, the degree program consists of the
Grundstruktur Studienrichtung Betriebliche Bildung und Personalentwicklung (Studienrichtung I)
- the required “Economics” component, which provides you with a broad foundation of knowledge in the various subdisciplines of the field,
- the elective-required economics component, which builds on this foundation and offers a wide range of options,
- and the bachelor’s thesis.

In addition, for the “Vocational Teacher Education in Economics and Administration” track (Track II), the chosen specialization is a required component.

Here, during your first semesters, you will acquire fundamental knowledge in
- Business Administration and Economics,
- Business Information Systems,
- Business Education and Management Training,
- methods and procedures, as well as
- general skills.
You can learn more about each of these areas and their content by following the respective links.
In the Corporate Training and Personnel Development track (Track I), the required Business component comprises 105 credit points; in the Vocational Teacher Education in Business and Administration track (Track II), it may be slightly smaller or larger depending on the specialization (90–110 credit points). In the track for Vocational Teacher Education in Economics and Administration (Track II), there may be variations in the number and sequence of the required economics modules. You may begin the required-elective area in Economics as soon as you have successfully completed the core required economics modules .
In theBusiness Education and Personnel Development track (Track I), the required-elective area in Business Administration and Economics begins in the 4th semester. It comprises 65 credit points and includes modules from the fields of Business Administration and Economics, Business Education and Management Training, and Supplementary Qualifications. When selecting modules, you must only adhere to the following credit requirements :
- at least 15 credit points in Business Education and Management Training, of which at least 10 credit points must be from the core modules in that area,
- at least 30 credit points in the field of Business Administration and Economics, and
- no more than 20 credit points in the field of supplementary qualifications.
Wahlpflichtbereich Wirtschaft - Studienrichtung Betriebliche Bildung und Personalentwicklung (Studienrichtung I)
Within the fields of Business Administration and Economics, as well as Supplementary Qualifications, various profiles are available to help you further specialize your studies.
In theEconomics and Administration Vocational Teacher Education track (Track II) , the elective requirement in Economicsis smaller, totaling 30 credit points. Here, you must complete modules totaling
- 10 credit points in the field of Business Education and Management Training from its core modules and
- 20 credit points in the field of Business Administration and Economics
. In Business Administration and Economics, you can choose a profile to specialize in a specific area.

Specialization Track
In the Economics and Administration Teacher Education program (Program Track II), you will also take required modules in the general education track you have chosen. You can choose from the following options:
- German,
- English,
- Ethics/Philosophy,
- French,
- History,
- Computer Science,
- Mathematics.
The number of credit points required varies by specialization (30–50 credit points). You can see which modules to take in which semesters in the study plan for your specialization, which you can access via the “Study Documents” menu item on this page.
Bachelor’s Thesis

With your bachelor’s thesis, you demonstrate your ability to scientifically present and analyze a problem related to Business Administration and Economics. You have 9 weeks to complete it, and it is worth 10 credit points. It typically marks the completion of your degree program.
Prerequisites: To begin your bachelor’s thesis, you must have earned at least 130 credit points , including all required courses in economics. In addition, you must have participated as a subject in an empirical research study. You must begin your bachelor’s thesis no later than the semester following your passing the final module exam.
Important: Topic assignment, registration, and formal requirements vary by Chair. Therefore, please check the respective Chair websites for details.
