Guest Visit: Robert Davison, Editor-in-Chief of the Information Systems Journal
Robert Davison during his talk on publishing in a reputable journal from an editor's perspective
Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Robert Davison, IS professor at the City University of Hong Kong and one of the most distinguished researchers in our field. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Information Systems Journal (ISJ), one of the eleven Premier Journals designated by the AIS.
From the perspective of an editor of an A-journal, Robert gave us valuable insights into publishing in top IS journals. Among other topics, he spoke about a paper's fit with the journal, the importance of the cover letter, how to structure the introduction, the importance of storytelling, the relevance of context, boundary conditions, and theoretical contribution, and common reasons for desk rejections. We also discussed the use of AI in the research process and the central role of research integrity in this context.
It was an exciting day with many insights into the work of an editor and IS professor in Hong Kong.
