Studying Theoretical Philosophy
The professorship contributes to all of the institute's degree programmes. Here you will find its courses, together with information on final theses and doctoral studies.
Studying Theoretical Philosophy
Anyone working in epistemology, philosophy of language, metaphysics, or logic is dealing with questions that observation alone cannot settle: what is it to know something? How do our words come to be about the world? What follows from what? Teaching accordingly emphasises craft — reconstructing arguments precisely, bringing their assumptions into the open, testing counterexamples, and defending a position in writing. These skills carry well beyond the subject; the professorship's logic teaching is also taken by students from other disciplines.
In the Bachelor's programme this begins with the foundational courses and logic, deepens through the modules on the areas of theoretical philosophy, and leads to the advanced modules. In teacher training it forms the disciplinary basis of ethics and philosophy teaching; at Master's level it opens the way to independent research.
General questions about studying — regulations, exam registration, recognition of credits — are answered in the institute's Studies section.
The professorship is currently vacant. Teaching, examinations, and supervision continue unaffected.
