Evaluation of the participation projects funded by SMJusDEG
The involvement of citizens in political processes is an essential element of a functioning democracy. Therefore, providing financial and technical support for participatory projects is of great social significance. Under its funding guidelines for citizen participation, the Free State of Saxony supports projects by civil society as well as those by municipalities and counties that promote the concrete involvement of local residents.
To examine the results of these projects and ensure their quality, the Saxon State Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, and Social Cohesion has commissioned the Chair of Political Systems and Comparative Politics to evaluate the funded projects during the period from 2023 to 2026. The Chair has long had a core research area on local (digital) participation, so it can draw on a broad range of expertise in this area. Both qualitative and quantitative methods will be used for the evaluation; among other things, a comprehensive mapping of all funded projects will be conducted.
