Family festival
A celebration for everyone who loves family.
Beaming faces among young and old alike and a campus bustling with life: On September 17, 2026, hundreds of guests celebrated the third TUD Family Festival in the courtyard of the Fritz-Foerster Building—once again organized by the Unit Diversity Management.
Once again, a colorful program was on offer with something for everyone. Whether it was the ever-popular robot dog SPOT or the “Katze Q” gaming lounge —science became an experience. Entertainment and a cheerful atmosphere were also provided by the interactive circus “Chaos,” the band “Zugabe,” Professor Pizzicato, and the TUD Children’s and Youth Dance Studio. There were also plenty of opportunities to get involved at other locations on the festival grounds: The University Sports Center welcomed guests with sports and play equipment. The campus fire department, on the other hand, invited visitors to try their hand at target spraying and explore the fire truck.
Crafting, swapping clothes, spinning the wheel of fortune, or simply learning more while enjoying the atmosphere over food and drinks—all of this was possible and made this year’s TUD Family Festival another successful family event. “We are very pleased with the success of the Family Festival. The consistently positive response each year shows how important such events are for fostering a sense of community and raising the visibility of families at TUD. It was wonderful to see how employees, students, and their families came together to fill the campus with life, fun, and curiosity,” summarized Franziska Schneider, Family-Friendliness Coordinator.
