Deadline: January 31 of each year
Application Materials
For study abroad placements coordinated by the ZIS, you will need the following documents (to be uploaded to the mobility portal):
- Proof of proficiency in the host country’s language or the language of instruction:
- As a rule, a minimum B1 level in the language of instruction is required; B2 or higher is recommended. Please check in advance on our website (under the respective university) or directly on the host university’s website to see if you meet the language requirements.
- Language certificates must not be more than 2 years old at the time of application.
- Transcript as proof of successfully completed language courses and as proof of a second language (BA IB)
- Partner universities do not accept the high school diploma as proof of proficiency in the language of instruction. However, if you do not have any other proof of language proficiency at the time of your internal application, you are welcome to apply to us using your high school diploma. After receiving a confirmation of admission, you must check whether and what language certificates the respective university requires. In an emergency, you can take a DAAD language test at short notice via TUDIAS for a fee. However, please wait until you receive your confirmation of admission first.

- Current transcript ( only for partner institutions that have specified a certain grade point average as a requirement)
-
For Master’s students applying to LUND : A copy of your Bachelor’s degree certificate or a current transcript showing at least 60 ECTS credits in the field of politics
Please fill in the online form carefully, as the data will be transferred to us in the form you have entered, i.e. spelling mistakes, e.g. in your address or mistyped telephone numbers, will then also appear in all serial documents that the International Office sends to you or the partner university. Incorrect bank details lead to incorrect transfers of the mobility grant or scholarship, e-mails do not reach you, etc. Please also pay attention to exact capitalization.
You are obliged to state the dates of your stay precisely so that the funding period and amount can be determined correctly. When completing the form, please also note any missing data that you may receive. Once all mandatory fields in the form have been completed, the "Send" button will appear, which you can use to submit the form. Your application will be automatically saved and sent to the International Office.

General Information on Applying for a Study Abroad Program
- Before submitting your application, please research the partner university’s course offerings online to help you formulate your study goals.
(Semester dates, application deadline, Erasmus code, etc.)
Country Information - You apply via the International Office Mobility online portal and may submit only one application per program (Erasmus/TUD Worldwide/non-Erasmus+ faculty cooperation through ZIS) per academic year. Submitting multiple applications for the same program is not permitted. With your application, you must submit a priority list consisting
of three partner universities . Please select no more than a total of 3 ZIS partner universities. If your first choice cannot be accommodated, a decision will be made based on your list of priorities. - Acceptance is granted by the responsible coordinator and is subject to the partner university’s approval.
- You will be notified by April 15 whether your application was successful.
Selection Criteria for Allocating ZIS Places
Allocation of spots in the event of oversubscription:
- First choice before second choice, second choice before third choice (if you have multiple applications—e.g., ERASMUS and faculty partnerships—please enter your preferred order in the text field)
- Bachelor’s before Master’s (does not apply to partnerships that are exclusively for Master’s programs)
- Second language in the IB degree program takes precedence if the university’s language of instruction matches the second language.
- If no decision can be made: random selection
No letter of motivation is required for our spots!
Acceptance of a Spot
Binding acceptance of a study place at our partner universities is completed by the student’s digital confirmation in the mobility portal and by signing the acceptance form for a ZIS exchange place, which is added to your application in this portal.
